The Protecting Democracy Action Team believes that protecting fair elections, voting rights, and checks and balances are how we safeguard the future of our country. We strive to restore a strong democratic system by highlighting threats to the American constitution and to the community. Together, we stand for transparency, accountability, and the fundamental principles of a free and just society.
When do we meet?
Currently we are meeting in person on the second Wednesday of the month. Meetings are to start at 530pm and last until 7pm. Previously, our meetings were held first at the Penrose Library, then at Ricos. However, due to the size of our Protecting Democracy Action Team, and the potential for even more growth in the future, finding a venue to accommodate upwards of 140 people is very difficult to say the least.
Current Intent:
It is our intention to create a communications committee within our Action Team to act as a liaison within the team. Once this has been established, their information will be provided to the steering committee. Until that time arrives, please contact the Action Team Leaders.
Actions so far:
We have held two Action Team meetings. As a team our members have made many phone calls, sent emails, and sent handwritten letters to elected officials. We have made office visits to our Senators’ offices as well as multiple visits to Congressman Crank’s office. Protests, demonstrations, and rallies have been well attended. A great deal of time has been spent on administrative duties to secure an appropriate venue for meetings
