Civil Rights|Human Rights Action Team

Support the civil and human rights of all, with emphasis on marginalized individuals and groups in our local community.

When do we meet?

  • Monthly Business Meeting – Virtual – 2nd Monday of each Month, 6pm
  • Monthly Social Meeting – In Person – 4th Monday of each Month, 6pm

Current intent

  • As the Civil Rights/Human Rights team, we seek to address issues that impact the safety, rights and well-being of all people. Our mission is to support, protect, raise awareness and actively work for the rights of individuals and groups who are threatened, under attack, marginalized, or whose rights are being denied under the Trump Administration. We believe that equity, inclusion, diversity, and respect are American values that extend to everyone, without discrimination on the basis of race, religion, culture, national origin, disabilities, protected speech, sex or sexual orientation.
  • This administration has created an “us against them” mentality that lives by hate and fear and sees whole groups of people as “less than” other Americans. This administration seeks to divide and distract Americans by scapegoating, intimidating, and repressing vulnerable individuals and minority groups through calculated assaults on their civil liberties and fundamental rights. We seek to address and confront these actions and to do this in a manner that is respectful, inclusive, and honors the humanity of all involved, while fostering an environment that promotes inclusion, safety and respect both for ourselves and our greater community. We actively try to change both attitudes and actions.
