This is our call to ENGAGE to ensure the D49 School Board understands the community opposition to this blatantly transphobic, discriminatory, unenforceable, and legally dubious policy. This is going to look familiar, but please check as many of these things off the list as you can!
Email the Board with your concerns about this policy. As a reminder, here are their addresses:
Lori Thompson, President – [email protected]
Jamilynn D’Avola, Vice President – [email protected]
Mike Heil, Treasurer – [email protected]
Marie La Vere-Wright, Secretary – [email protected]
Deb Schmidt, Director – [email protected]
Peter Hilts, Superintendent – [email protected]
Attend the meeting on May 8!
Thursday, May 8, 6:30 pm, Creekside Success Center (3850 Pony Tracks Dr.).
Speak at open forum. You will have two minutes to speak. As always, my goal would be to pack open forum with opposition to policy JBA. It gives us the opportunity to collectively urge the Board not to pass the policy, but knowing it will pass, I think the greater value is in shielding our kids from the ugly, harmful rhetoric that usually comes from the other side. You can still sign up in person before the meeting, but we now have the handy-dandy online sign up process:
Sign-ups will start on Wednesday, May 7 at 3:00 pm. Can we get 15 people signed up to speak and box out those planning hateful speeches?
Share our calls to action on your own social media channels, in friendly groups you’re a part of, spread the word however you can!
This call to action is hosted by Neighbors for Education and Inside Out Youth Services.
