We continuously monitor local and national healthcare related issues impacted by the current administration so that we can broadly communicate the affects and identify any possible action steps.

Current Intent
- Monitor the various categories as explained below via specific sites containing reliable Health information such as Bluesky, Caitlin Rivers, Eric Topol, and Substak for latest information.
Actions so far
- Two members each had articles about the importance of vaccines and seeking medical experts that was published in the Gazette. Another member interviewed the head of Westside Cares about the impact of budget cuts for homeless and folks with reduced income. This she hopes will form the basis of another publication.
- A member reported on VA. She had spoken to a disabled vet in his 40’s. She indicated he and others who work with vets will partner with her to learn more about the impact of the Trump policies on vets.
- A member reported on Women’s Health. She indicated the group met on April 14 and will meet every 2 weeks. They will research how to make healthcare flyers to inform the public.
- A member testified on Zoom for a bill 2B25-314 which passed and another emergency bill for women will be re-introduced. Will have a table at an upcoming protest.
- The vaccine group considered the need for Covid availablity and RSV vaccination. The team is worried about the possible lack of vaccines.
- Many members have written to Senators and Congressmen, attended town halls, and participated in protests.
- Several members attended the Phil Weiser talk.
Focus topics
- The Healthcare group is divided into several categories that include Vaccines, Women’s Health, Vet’s Health, FDA/NIH/CDC, Pharma, Colorado Health Dept., Medicaid/PACE, Peak Vista.
- Topics are relevant to each category. For example, members wrote to Senators about the downsizing of government health agencies that would result in the loss of institutional knowledge and delays in drug approvals.
