Immigration & Deportation Action Team

We fight for fair and humane immigration policies, standing against unjust deportations that tear families apart. Through advocacy, direct action, and community support, we work to protect the rights and dignity of all immigrants. Our goal is to build a society that welcomes and values all people, ensuring they have the freedom and opportunity to thrive.

When do we meet?

Our monthly meeting is still to be determined.
Our next meeting is: 3/27 at FUMC

Mission, Goals, and Intentions

  1. Assistance for asylum seekers and other immigrants
  2. Resistance to deportation
  3. Publicize what we are doing and involve others in it

Actions so far

Our group is just getting started. As individuals, we are already acting to assist immigrants and resist deportation.
  • Some of our leadership works with colleagues from UC Health Central that have been working with asylum seekers from Ecuador in Denver and Aurora.
  • Our leadership have worked for the Accompaniment and Sanctuary Coalition of Colorado Springs (asccos.org) to support 5-6 asylum-seeking families from Honduras, Venezuela and Colombia. This includes helping them register with and pick up food from Crossfire Ministries, getting them free Christmas trees and Holiday decorations through the Christmas Tree Project (https://www.thechristmastreeproject.org/), and now starting to help them apply for driver’s licenses.
  • They have have registered as observers with the Colorado Rapid Response Network (CORRN.org).
  • They have helped asylum seekers complete immigration forms through Catholic Charities, and providing “know your rights” materials and “family preparedness packets” available from the Colorado Immigrant Rights Coalition (CIRC.org)
