After a fantastic 2025, where we collaborated with our neighbors to resist the authoritarian advances of the Trump regime and we put the work in to get schoolboard members elected in our local districts, 2026 is the year we insist on our freedom.
This is the year that we really use the tools of democracy. We’ll continue to check the excesses of extremists while working for a better Colorado Springs. How?
Skin in the Game: Let’s Caucus
Starting as we mean to go on, this winter and spring we encourage our members to actively participate in democracy by selecting which candidates will be on the primary ballot.
-
Join the Democratic Party. It’s a party, not a marriage, but it’s how you have a voice at the beginning of the process.
-
Show up at your precinct caucus for 1 hour in March and select the primary candidates who represent our values. If you love it, volunteer to be a precinct organizer and continue to caucus at the county and state level.
-
Support your preferred primary candidates and vote in the primaries on 30 June 2026.
250th Anniversary of the Declaration of Independence: Building Resolve
Banding together this summer, we will make the promise of the Declaration our work.
-
Bring the energy you found caucusing to volunteering for the candidates you want to see in office.
-
Be visible in our neighborhoods and community by collaborating with like-minded groups to solve problems.
-
Give back where you can. For example, park clean-up drives, mutual aid projects, and neighborhood picnics.
Boots on the Ground: Get Out the Vote
If we want a better world, we need to elect people as committed as we are to doing the work. Let’s keep the momentum going as elections approach.
-
Let’s Get Out the Vote (GOTV).
-
Work for your favorite candidates by phone banking, post cards, and canvasing.
-
Talk to your friends, your neighbors, your fellow faith members, and your bowling league. Make certain they are registered to vote and that they have a plan for voting by 3 Nov. 2026.
